Stage 8:Windsor to Maidenhead
Date:02/03/2003
Distance:6.8 miles
Conditions:Sunny and cool, clouding over as the day progressed.

This stage was the last relatively straight forward one in terms of logistics (apart from the fact that there were no trains running in the Staines area so I had to use the replacement bus service). From now on every stage will start by taking a train to Reading.

The weather today was fantastic - particularly early on. I spent an hour retracing the last part of the previous stage to take some photos and then my Brother-in-Law, Philip, joined me for the stage proper.

I've walked just about this entire route before but it was nice to get the project going again after the long break for rather soggy weather. The original plan was to get as far as Cookham, but I had a little bit of cramp and Philip suffered from a severe case of sock slip so when we met my sister and nephew for lunch in Maidenhead we decided to stop there.

Thanks to Philip for accompanying me - I hope the feet are ok!
